BCM50 Branding to Avaya 2

That's been my experience. Any Avaya branded BCM50 or BCM450 that I've bought have all been R6.

Yes the R6 systems were Avaya only branded, you may see Blue systems that were branded Red using the special plastics with the red logo that was available for ordering back in 2011. In this case it could be anything upgraded to R6.
Always check the printed label with the release version. Also all China made systems were release 6.0
