If I schedule a FTP or Network backup on a BCM50 on a regular basis do I need to also schedule a backup to the local hard drive also or is this done when a FTP or Network backup is completed? This is not clear in the Nortel documentation. Any advise or assistance is appreciated.

Do you mean the local hard drive on the bcm? Unless you have a redundent hard drive (which mirrors all info anyways) why would you want to backup to itself? I would say backup to 1 location not on the bcm and you are good to go.

My advice would be to automate a backup on a Monthly basis to a FAT32 USB card, then do the same if possible to backup to a FTP Server or to a Network folder. If you have a RCC Server, then you can schedule them to be 2 weeks apart.

Therefore you should always have a backup from 2 different sources which at most would be 2 weeks old. Also BCM 50 backups don't overwrite the previous one, so you can have many archive copies.

I always does a backup on the BCM50 itself anytime you backup to any other device. But that backup won't do you any good if the HDD goes bad. I agree with firebirdscrambler.

Thanks that is good advice - my issue is that I have experienced some BCM50 sites after a power outage loose it's customer data configuration. The sites that experienced this did not have any scheduled backups to the local hard drive. If I do not back up to the local hard drive after changes are made and a power reset occured should it still save the customer data?

That lost of programming after power loss is a known issue, make sure to always have the latest patches applied.
