BCM50 Answer DN Funtionality

Does anyone know the limitation of an ANSWER DN?
We have a client that wants to be able to answer the bosses phone, put the call on hold, then have the boss pick up the call at his phone.
This is a BCM50 R6 with 1140e phones
We tried assigning the target line to the assistant, but the boss cannot pick up the line if it is on hold.
We tried 2 appearances of the Answer DN, but same result.​

Targets come in on Intercom.
You can park the call or camp the call since it is not a physical line.
There is also SWCA you could look at if need.
