Question, I have a user with no telecom background that is itching to buy a copy of BCM management software so that he can self administor changes. Quest told him its availble and for sale. Load on a pc and plug a cable in from pc to front of BCM. Typically its mailbox issues (resets, name changes and ect)that he wants to manage in house. My question is this, if the system was on a IP address, couldnt he get there thru element manager and that is free on Nortel Site? Lastly, I know on the option switches you can control access to administrators to certain overlays. Can this be done on a BCM 50? Would appreciate your feed back.

you use the element manager for system programing (it is on the bcm

you can use internet explorer browser to program the callpilot voicemail just need the ip address of the bcm

He wouldn't need to purchase the software, he can download it from the BCM himself, assuming he has the passwords for the system. May be worth setting up specific user rights for him so he doesn't bollox it up - and taking a backup beforehand and making him sign to say he'll pay if he breaks it!

We have customers that manage their BCM's. They call when they get into trouble. There is no reason to purchase BEM from anyone when it is on the system itself.
