Is it possible to connect 2 BCM50's over H323 trunks without using a VPN.

I can dial and it rings both ends but no voice.

I thought that the STUN would allow it to work but it now reports that the far end is reporting a different IP.
It is sending its private IP back so the calling BCM gets confused between the public IP it initiated the call with and the Private IP the far end is now reporting.

this is the alarm from the BCM50: ResourceMediaControler::(0ID=0x10183300) Transport mismatch. old:174.94.138.47:28060,28061 new:192.168.1.98:28060,28061

Problem resolution:
Likely a interrop issue with a IP Trunk. IP Trunk is providing multiple IP addresses and ports when the BCM only supports one IP address and port per direction. Check the BCM documentation to determine if the IP trunk interrop is supported.

H323 is not very friendly with network address translation. It sends the IP address in the payload of the packet so unless your router has an application layer gateway programmed to translate the address inside of the IP packet you are going to have problems.

VPN tunnel is the correct solution to this problem. Also the H323 protocol is not encrypted so there would be privacy concerns without the protection of a VPN tunnel.
