Customer wants to add phones (7) to remote building (only 100' apart), can you add an expansion module via Cat 5e cable (properly protected)? Currently, he has all digital sets, no IP; he has (2)Cat5 cables between buildings BUT no voice feeder cable.; Can I have base cabinet in Building 1 and expansion module in Building 2?

Personally i would not recommend it.

In theory it may work but you cant be certain about interference
over the circuits.

if they have a duct going across why dont they get a multicore cable pulled.

The best option is IP and put a LAN switch on the other side

jjjohn, that's actually an interesting idea, so I couldn't resist to check and unfortunately this is what I found in one of the guides:

"If you do not have the expansion cable, you can use a shielded category 5e-compliant Ethernet
cable (maximum length of 10 m).
