BCM50 3.0 to 5.0 Upgrade

Anybody actually done one of these yet? I received an authorization code and applied the license but we didn't receive a CD like we normally would.

Are these upgrade files available on Nortels website somewhere? I've been looking for the last 2 hours and can't find anything.

Sitting on the customer site looking like an idiot so immediate responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Cook, I did find those a while ago but they aren't the upgrade files. They are the factory images. I need those after the system is upgraded to replace the 3.0 image.

What I need are the files we would normally get when we do a software upgrade that comes on the CD when we order the upgrade package.

Cook, you were right. It's the R3 upgrade files in there that I need. Spoke with Nortel and even they agreed that the title is misleading and poorly worded. It should say R3 to R5 upgrade or something similar.

Downloading now so maybe the customer will let me live after all.

Didn't have time to complete on Friday. They all wanted out of there for 4:30 so I'm doing it this afternoon. I do have all the required files including the new factory image so I'm good to go.

Got the 50 upgraded (I think). System is still down though. The green led (top one) has been blinking for about 45 minutes now. Manual doesn't say how long this should take.

My EM is at 61.0.1 and works ok with other Rel 5 systems so I don't want to upgrade it if I don't have to.

Considering doing a power off reboot. Any thoughta?

I did the power off reboot and the system came up just fine as R5.

Just remember that before you try to apply the new factory image that you patch the system with the latest software management patch. It's specifically for the factory image install. It won't install prperly without it.

Other than that, everything went fine.

I've upgraded two BCM 50s to rls 5 now - one was a 3.0 system and the other a 2.0.

Both went very well. I did find that rls5 was generating a lot of alarms though until SU 002 was applied. They've both since gone to SU 003 with no issues.
