BCM50 1.0 to 3.0 Upgrade?

I have BCM50E R1.0 and I would like to upgrade to R3.0
I have found out that there are some hardware limitations on 1.0 hardware. Do I need to purchase upgrade keycode and migration keycode plus new hardware or is purchase of new 3.0 hardware alone enough while also sending Nortel old 1.0 hardware? Some clarity here would be helpful?

My next question is will my 1.0 back of programming work on my now 3.0 system?

No, you cannot restore a rel 1.0 backup on a bcm 3.0
When doing the upgrade from 1.0 to 3.0, you won't loose any programming. Just make sure to change the bcm system name from it's default prior to proceed with the upgrade.
