We have a Nortel BCM450 system running Version 3.5 software. External calls made after-hours to the main company phone number (the switchboard phone) are answered by the auto attendant. We want to have those calls forwarded to an external number (an answering service) and use a schedule to make it automatic. Does anyone know how to do this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We found the post below elsewhere on this site, but we're not sure how to actually do the suggested steps:

We recently replaced our old Meridian Norstar system and VXM 100 voicemail with a new Nortel BCM 450 and CallPilot and I have a question with forwarding.

All inbound calls are directed to DID number 346 here. On our old system, at 4pm each day, all calls coming into 346 were automatically programmed (somehow) to forward to extension 386 until 7am the next morning, then it would remove the forward.

On the new BCM 450 however, I am unable to figure out how to 'program' this to happen automatically on a schedule. Our temporary solution is for the secretary to ue Feature 4 and manually forward the number before she leaves and then manually remove the forward when she returns at 7am. It works, but is not very effecient.

I am sure this is an easy solution that I am somehow over looking.

Thanks in advance for any help.

U need to setup a ring group. Setup ring group 2. Assign DN 386 to it. Assign whatever lines normally ring 346 to ring group 2. Make 346 the control set for ring group 2. Make the ring service auto.

First off what type of phone lines do you have?

Best to call tech if you are not sure how to program, no training provided here sorry.

PRI lines:

A route needs to be setup to use PRI and dial external number for answering service.
A Dest code needs to be setup to use that route.
The set needs to be allowed Redirect
Forward the set to the Dest code

Setup Service Modes
Add spare set to ring group
Add the Target line to the Ring Group
Setup Automatic and Scheduled times

Can't a ringing service be set up to send the call to ring x346 and set to auto?

Or use call pilot CCR tree with a transfer node to the external number
Set your greeting table timers to reflect the non business time of your CCR tree
Set the schedule service mode to switch over to the voicemail dn.at your desired time.

What happens is the schedule service will direct all calls to the voicemail dn.
The system will then look at you greeting table assigned to the line.
The greeting table will check the CCR tree and follow its settings
