I will be using the hard drive from the R1 unit, but I'm not sure what kind of trouble I will be running into. A R1 replacement is not an option for me unfortunately.

I've had recently found a snag with the 450's. A release 6 unit will work, but remember that the MAC address is located on it and therefore you will need to use KRS to migrate the keycodes. However, Avaya will only issue you with a release 5 keycode and you can't get a release 1 from them because it's no longer supported.

Your only option then is to reprogram the whole system from scratch. Not an answer you want to hear!.

My problem was that the customers BCM 450 was failing for no reason between anytime of 1/2 to 4 hours without any alarms showing. We eventually found it was the small circuit board that sits in the middle of the BCM 450 that interconnects with the power unit and motherboard and modules etc.

The easiest way was to swap out the whole unit. but keep the original tray and hard disk, so it was still a release one system.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I'm having a R1 base system shipped to me tonight. I will try just swapping the chassis first. Thanks!

I meant a R6. :) I will try using the old drive & tray. Keeping fingers crossed.
