anyone know how DND should work ?
I have a site when some sets are in Do Not Disturb.

call comes into attendant when he/she transfers the call to a set with DND on the call gets directed back to the attendant within 1 second.
Sometimes the call will ring silent 4 times on a set and go to vmail which I want it to do.

DND feature description is vauge in NTP's

It's only dialtone-VZ

All DND does is muzzle the ringer, and turn the triangle on a KLM/KIM. It should not redirect a call.

DND can be used in a variety of ways.
f85 stops the phone from ringing
f85 blocks a priorty call
f85 allows a member in a hunt group to be bypassed if they are not available to take a call.
Also f85 will bounce a call back to the originator because the transfered call wasn't answered.

If you use DND, the line indicator for an external incoming call flashes, but your telephone does not ring. Internal and private network callers hear a busy tone instead of ringing when you are on the telephone. External callers are transferred to the prime set used in your system or to your voice mail. Forward on Busy takes priority over DND on Busy.
Use this feature to forward your calls to the prime
telephone when there is no other telephone on which the line appears. If there is another telephone that shares the same line, the call can be answered by that person. The Delayed Ring Transfer feature transfers all calls not answered, to the prime telephone after a defined time.
If an external call uses a target line, the call is processed according to the programming of the target line. If the target line is busy, the caller hears a busy tone or routes the call to the prime set for the target line or to the voice mail system.

When the call is transferred from one user to another user that has DND enabled, it is normal for the call to return to set that transferred the call.

So this is normal? The users wanted DND to silence a second call ringing. But the operator is getting a bit bothered because everyone is in DND and all the transfered calls are coming back to her.
Maybe I will need to take DND off their sets and let them suffer with the second call ringing.
Thanks for the replies

That's been my experience in the field.
I thought it was strange too.
But, I think this line in the docs plays into it.

"Internal and private network callers hear a busy tone instead of ringing when you are on the telephone."

The sentence is regarding DND on busy ... but DND is DND.
