BCM400 V4 patch issues

Today I went to patch a BCM400 v4 with System update 014 and Desktop Update 009.
I installed the software management patch, and after reboot proceeded with the System patch. This seemed to take an eternity, and it said software update Done, but when it come to rebooting the system, it would not come back up. Had to power cycle the system to bring it back on line.

Then I tried to load in the Desktop patch, and the readme file states that it should take approx 10 mins to complete. This actually took two and a half hours to load in, and then came back with Apply failed.

When I look at the Software Update History, it shows only the Software Management patch.

If I select Software Updates, it shows both patches in there on Local System. The System Update states 'Applied' and the Desktop shows 'Downloaded'.

I suspect I may have an issue with my laptop as to the amount of time the patch took to upload, but I have never encountered this before.

Any ideas on how to get these active within the system?

I always install Desktop patch then SU System and never had a problem before, give it a try in that order next time and see if it makes a difference.

Supportdude: No, did not run as a schedule.

Gberger: Ran patches as per the readme files. For the e, the system update, ran the software management patch first.

For the desktop update, it states the dependencies is System update 13 or later which is why I loaded them in that order.

I will return to site with another laptop and try to reload them in again.

Thanks for your comments.
