BCM400 v3.7 Backup

I have a BCM400 v3.7 with all available patches loaded. Customer has a scheduled backup to his ftp server everynight at 8pm. He tells me that once every 4 months or so, the backup will "lock up" and not complete so when he comes in on the following day, he has to cycle the power to get the vmail and ip phones to work, Telephony works. I have already replaced the power supply and bft per old nortel tech bulletins.

Any ideas?

The BCM 3.x range is prone to NT4 IP failures. Why is the BCM backed up every night?. Usually once a week or Month is OK, unless the site has loads of changes carried out each day?.

Anyway when this happens, a reboot is the only answer to restore full IP services. Try reducing the amount of FTP backups.

Thanks for the reply. The customer feels the need to back up every night. I will try and talk him into a weekly backup.

That is a very good idea!. On some of my older BCM sites, I even schedule a weekly or Montly system reboot so that this prevents the system from locking up and losing it's IP link where RCC was added on.
