Hello Everyone,

I'm working on a BCM400 upgrade from 3.6 to 4.0.

In the process from 3.6 to 3.7 it stopped at 77% and spend the whole night at that stage and never moved from there.

We were willing to start all over again the process but no services were running, that is, ftp, web, serial connections, etc., but the telephony services were running, that is, the MBMs installed.

We have a disk copy from the 3.6 version and we tried to upgrade the system with that disk copy, but it shows an error stating that the MSC is not recognized.

What can I do now?? I'm out of ideas.

Come on guys!! I know there's one of you who can solve this with one tied hand!!!

I remember a thread in the last 2 weeks talking about this 77% issue.

Adversity is Opportunity

I saw it, but it couldn't drive me to the solution... It gave me the prevention though, but not the solution.

Ok, I downloaded the SSL tool from nortel site, and everything seems to be ok at 3.7, but when I try to run the upgrade to 4.0 it says that it is not recognizing the MSC Core Telephony Services...

What is going on now?? GOSH!!!

Did you wait long enough after the 3.7 upgrade before attempting the 4.0 one. Sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes before connecting to the msc. Can you access the telephony in 3.7?

Can you access telephony in 3.7? Have you run the 4.0 pre-check tool?

Try rebooting and then see if you can access the BCM.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I'm able to access but when I try to run the upgrade it aborts after the message comes out stating that is not recognizing the MSC.

You have to ini the MCS again to set it back to 3.6. go though the serial port and reset it.

OH!! Never thought it was possible... Is there any documentation that has more details on it? I need to have this set ASAP.

Thanks

I don't have any DOC's available to me right now, but when you get into the serial port there is a Menu that may make sense to you when you see it. or somebody else may know off and. It's not something I do everyday, so you forget.
