Make sure you have your 3.6 discs in case something goes south partway through upgrade, because your backup is good only for 3.6.
You may want to have PuTTy downloaded in case you need to move files around in the partitions (I had to do this with CDR log files on an upgrade a month ago). After I did that, it went smooth as butter.
Thanks for all the helpful info guys. Are the BCM 3.6 install C/D's available online at Nortel's website? What is the name of the c/d's in case of upgrade failure and I need to reinstall the 3.6 software?
They come with the new installation package...there are three of them and I think they are called 3.6 backup/installation...or something like that. They should be available for download at Nortel.com under the software menu.
I guess I need to get Unified Manager back on my PC to talk to the 3.6., I already have Element Manager. Where is a copy of Unified Manager? I do not have remote access to this 3.6 or any other 3.6 system. Any conflicts having Unified and Element Manager on the same lap top?
You may find a copy of it at Nortel, but you need to be on site for the upgrade anyway and as soon as you access the BCM, unified manager is the first menu choice. It's a gui interface instead of an independent interface like elements manager.
It is java driven and if you have problems, you may need to degrade to java runtime 1.5, though I wouldn't unless you have menu trouble.
You will only need the unified manager to change the ee_admin password back to system default...after that, the upgrade CDs do the rest.
