I have a BCM 400 ver 3.7. Recently random digital sets have been rebooting with the following error:

An invalid event was received on a TCM channel. Check that all devices on the system are supported and that the wiring to the devices is correct.

Event ID: 247

All the sets are T7316E. They are connected to two DSM32+. The problem occurs on both modules.

All the wiring is correct. Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

Check the AMP connector on the right hand side of the connector to make sure there is a tie rap holding the connector to the MOD so it doesn't pull off a little bit. and check that the screw on the left isn't to long alowing the connector to pull off.

The connector is fixed with a tie wrap, the screw is the appropriate length and the connectors are seated correctly. Is there anything else that could cause this?

You might want to test and verifiy the jack that the set is plugged into. Failing that, test your line cord. I seen these items cause this problem.

I hate conceited people that think they are a good as me!!!

It seems now that *all* the sets are rebooting at once not just a few. (total of approx 60 phones)

Are the lights flashing on the front of the BCM??
Can you access the BCM though the IP or dialup port?

there are Nortel patches for this.
you need a Nortel password.

hope this helps.

tjcom - which patch resolves the issue?

Are the DSM modules in question in the main cabinet or an expansion cabinet?

I had an issue similar to this on BCM 3.0 - ended up being a core patch that resolved the issue. I haven't experienced anything like that since except when an expansion cabinet started to go south on me.

Call Nortel you may have a problem with your MSC card this is already my 3 system I had to replace the MSC card due to the system rebooting for no reason. According to Nortel systems that were manufactured on a certain date had a problem with this MSC card, call them they will have you verify the serial number of the card to determine if your system is one of them if so they will mail you a replacement MSC card for free.
