I am setting up an office where three recptionists will need to be able to answer all the incoming calls. The extensions are 7301, 7302 and 7303 which are all DID's. The published number for the business is the DID ending in 7301. What is the best way to set up these phones so the incoming calls come to all three phones and could be answered by any of the rectionists?

Thanks for any suggestions!

One way is to assign the target line associated with 7301 onto all 3 sets. You can assign it as "Appear and Ring" with multiple appearances or as "Ring Only" with multiple intercom keys.

So just to make sure I understand if I set it up this way...on the phone that is say 7302 will intercom key 1 ring the target line that is for 7302 and then the others above it will ring the target line for 7301?

Thanks for your response

There is just 1 PRI so I will try 4 to start with as you suggested. In my previous post regarding the scenario with 7302...will the receptionist that takes a call be able to put the call on hold and then it can be picked up on say 7303..or will they have to park the call? Thanks for your reply curlycord!

If you want to seperate the 7301 published number from the personal DID numbers, then assign the target line for 7301 as Appear & Ring on all 3 sets while assigning their personal DID target lines as Ring Only. Maybe give target line for 7301 3 or 4 appearances and give each set 2 intercom keys.

You could do that too....all depends on how many buttons you want to loose too. However 7301 didnt realy get a personal DID, stuck with the main number only.

You have to Park and Page.

With a DID PRI we get the carrier assign digits received as a DNIS and have it ring at the Main Answer Set and give the backup answering positions an ANSWER DN of the Main Answer Position, in addition to their intercom DN assignment. This way the Main Answer Set can have multiple Intercom DN appearances work like a LOOP key on an attendant console and the sub-attendants know it was a call to the Listed DN of the company rather than a DID call to their extension.

(Note: The system does not like a DNIS assignment beginning with 0. If you have the carrier is providing a 4 digits on DNIS or DID.)

Paste:will the receptionist that takes a call be able to put the call on hold and then it can be picked up on say 7303..or will they have to park the call?

Best way to achieve this is by using SWCA where all 3 receptionnists will have SWCA keys so that they can retrieve callers from any of the 3 receptionnist phones.
Go in Documentation- Master Index and search fo SWCA, they explain well how to set it up..
