Hi all,

I have a BCM400 single cabinet which has few DSM32+ and one ISDN PRI module. It user 2/6 split and the capacity in means of available slots is filled. I'm in process of upgrading the system with an additional cabinet and another PRI module which will be hosted on the second cabinet.

The main idea is to have redundancy within the telco ISDN lines i.e. if one of the modules fails the traffic should be routed to the second one. The telecom will take care of the routing within it's system and it's up to me to set it on the BCM itself. Because this is the first time I come across this requirement I serioulsy don't know how to set it and I thought that maybe some of you guys came across similar issue and could share the knowledge. It is our BCM system and I'm just maintaining the basic settings on it.

I also have one more question because I was unable to find some documentation about DIP SW settings for the ISDN PRI module that should be set on the second cabinet. Currently the PRI module resides on the BUS 6.0 with DIP SW setting: xxx011. Could you please point me how to setup the DIP SW and BUS position on the additional PRI module that would be hosted on the second cabinet?

Thanks in advance for sharing.

Cheers,
Ivo

Just put the lines in the same blocb and you're good to go. If the d-channel from the first is down the syatem will select a b-channel from the other one. You can even configure the system to use lines from the second under normal conditions for outgoing calls and have the provider route incoming calls to the first (or vica versca).

As for the dip switch settings, it doesn't matter where the module is physically located, either slot or cabinet. Just follow the install guide and set them up for the bus you want it to be on.

Thanks oldestgeek :)

I will try the settings you've suggested and I'll let you knwo of the outcome.

Cheers,
Ivo
