I have a bcm400 4.0 which when checking messages from the outside the volume is extremely low. If you check internally it works perfect but when you call in from home, LOW! Any ideas?

what if you connect a POTS line, fax for example, to the system and dial in on that number? It could be a CODEC issue on the dynamic T1 that lowers the volume inherently but not noticed because the set can increase/decrease the receivers volume at the set level, which of course can't be done at the auto attendant level.

--DB

There are 16 pots lines installed on this 400 all off Dynamic T and I agree that it very well could be a T1 issue but they keep sending it back to pbx.

I've encountered the same issue of call volume dropping when checking voicemail or call forwarding.
This is due to the analog trunks, there is always a volume issue when analog trunks are used.

I've never found a way to correct other than changing to a PRI - then call volumes are good.

Get your provider to prove to you that there is no significant DB loss on the lines. Anything greater than -7.5 DB's of loss will cause you issues when calling in to listen to messages. Insist that they come out & be there in person to see the results.

Hi All I want to thank you for your idea's and it was provider's IAD box. Thanks again
