BCM VoIP transfer problem

Hello,

I have two sites set up with BCM50 systems linked using MCDN and SIP trunks. Voice networking is set up and working (after much hassle) so that the two sites can intercom each other. However there is no way to transfer a call from one side to the other - this is also true when using the AA. For example if you call site A and dial a site B extension it will tell you that it's invalid. Also if a user at Site A tries to transfer a caller to site B it won't work. Furthermore, I can't even program an internal speed dial at Site A using a Site B extension. Note that all of Site A's extensions are 4 digits and start with 2 e.g. 2221 and Site B's are also 4 digits and start with 3 e.g. 3221.

I tried to get this all set up by the vendor but they are not very good with MCDN it seems. In fact they buggered the setup initially and I had to fix a lot of settings to get the existing functionality.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You need to set up a CDP on the systems, this is the Private DNs.

Speed dials are for external only
Autodial are for internal and external.

What do you dial to call the other site, just the extn number?

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Do you have routes built from site do site under Dialing Plan?Is the routing table set up under ip trunks in telephony resouces? Also if your having a problem transfering, make sure you have allow redirect checked in capabilities on the sets you are trying to transfer from.

Thanks for your replies.

When I said speed dial I actually meant autodial, sorry. I can't program an autodial at site A with an extension from site B.

To dial from site to site, the user just selects the intercom line and dials the 4-digit extension at the remote site. That part works fine except it will not display who is calling on the set, it only displays the business name (from global settings).

The routes were built under Dialing plan such that there is a route 010 that uses BlocA, to which all SIP trunks have been allocated, and DN type of Private. Then a destination code for 3A (site A) and 2A (site B) is set to use route 010 with absorbed length 0.

Under Dialing Plan - Private Network, the settings are as follows:
Private Network Settings
Private received number length: 4
Private network type: CDP
Private network ID: 2 (site A), 3 (site B)
Private access code: 3
Private DN length: 4
Private Auto DN, Private DISA DN, and location code: blank

MCDN:
Local Access code: 9
National and special access codes: blank
TRO is checked, Network ICCL and TAT are unchecked

VoIP: Virtual Private Network ID and Zone ID are both 0

Under Telephony Resources -> IP Trunks, the routing tables are set up with each location, destination digits of 2 for Site A and 3 for site B, destination IP of each BCM, G/W protocol of CSE, VoIP protocol of SIP. Under SIP settings, the domain name is set to cdp. All other settings are defaults.

For all sets, I have checked off "Allow redirect." There is also a target line assigned to each DN (Ring only, caller ID set and Vmsg set checked) set up as follows:

Control set: 2221 for site A, 3221 for site B
Line type: DN:(same as DN)
Prime set: (same as DN)
Pub. received #: blank
Priv. received #: same as DN

That is pretty much all the settings right there. I don't know if this is more complex than it needs to be, the vendor supplied me with most of the settings and also said that you need MCDN to network sites which I found out from another post now is not actually true. Sorry for the length of this post, just didn't want to leave anything out.

Private network ID: 1 (Should be 1 on both)

Thanks acewarlock. I made that settings change and will test it out as soon as I can. However a different issue has cropped up - calling from site A to site B via intercom goes straight to the extension's voicemail instead of ringing. Any thoughts as to why? (This happened before I made the settings change above). I changed the voicemail DN on both sides to "Allow redirect", maybe that caused it.

Allow redirect is so you can Call Forward a phone to the outside.

How do you have forwarding setup

Forward on Busy?

I have the sets programmed to Forward no answer to voicemail (4 rings). That problem seems to have cleared up anyway. However I still can't do a site-to-site transfer. Is there an online guide/FAQ somewhere that can help me through this?
