We are performing an BCM400 Upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.5
In the upgrade process as soon as I enter the IP/Login/Password , it configures the FTP Server and uploads some files to BCM. Then it shows performing system health check. After about five minutes throws the error message "Timeout waiting for initial information from BCM".
Again comes back to the BCM Upgrade Wizard where it ask for the IP/Login and password.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

had the same error also with bcm 3.6 or bcm 3.7 machines.
there are two possible solutions:
1. reboot the bcm (helps sometimes)
2. enable drive share for DriveE$ and delete the uploaded patch files. if possible log on via vnc and delete the patch-keys in the registry found here: HKLM\Software\Nortel Networks\Upgrade

How do I enable the share for E$ Drive?
Where are the patch files stored? (couldnt locate)
Unfortunately I dont have the VNC password. I have posted a message to reset the vnc password.

I was able to find the upgrade files "E:\nortel networks\BCM 3.5".

I deleted the above files. Rebooted the BCM.
Tried again, same thing.

I was not able to share the DriveE$ drive as i dont know how to do it.
I was not able to delete the REG keys as I dont have the vnc password.

Any help would be much appreciated.

mrmarshall ,

I have tried to register to your site with three different emails, It does not work. I did not recieve any emails to activate the account.

I would appreciate you help.

Thanks

Share for DriveE is enabled through the maintenance page. To gain access to the BCM via VNC use the VNC Enable Patch at ftp://ftp.etkn.de/pub/bcm

steeef,

Thanks for your response.

On the maintenance page-->
maintenance tools-->
Shared Drive Tools
Attach shared volume

I dont see any option to enable the DriveE$ share.

When I have this problem, I use CMD prompt
ping xx.xx.xx.x -T this does a continious ping and then the upgrade works. I have had to do this on about 10 of my 60 BCM's.
