BCM 4.0: Upgrade gives error "existing call detail recording storage exceeds 200 MB"
Problem Description
When upgrading BCM 3.6 or BCM 3.7 to BCM Version 4.0 upgrade wizard gives error:"existing call detail recording storage exceeds 200MB".
The combination of factory default configuration for CDR defaults to Status "Up", Startup on reboot defaults to Enabled-Automatic, and the CDR Disk Space Limit defaults to 400MB can create this issue even when the user is not utilizing CDR records for call accounting purposes.
Problem Resolution
The recording files can be deleted if not in use as follows via telnet or the serial port on command line. If CDR is set to "Up" when performing this procedure, the "Active" clip file will give an error that it is in use but will not affect the ability to delete the older CDR files (see example below):

We had this exact problem two weekends ago. Can someone tell me exactly what i am deleting when/if i do this? As far as i know, we dont use call detail recording, having said that, what i thought call detail recording was, was almost like call parrot, as in recording calls. i have quite a lot of space to delete. i have three different kinds of record files, ccr, hg, and mbx. was just curious as to what exactly i was deleting.
well i never gave a reason why we were upgrading, just said that i ran into this problem, but we are changing the engine because we are connecting three differnt sites over a WAN to where we can all have ip phones. this problem i had, is the last site to be upgraded. so thats why i am changing the engine.
Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs" is an Analogy that is on everyone of my replys and only means why do things the hard way when you could do it the easy.
I guess I will need to Edit this so people don't get upset like you did.
