Hi everybody

After applying an upgrade to three different BCM 400, I am very confused because of these problem. I have to say that these 3 BCM had the 3.5 version, and I made the upgrade to 3.7.

Once the upgrade finishes, and the IP addresses for the two LAN ports are returned to their default values (LAN1: 10.10.10.1 & LAN2: 10.10.11.1), the system is unable to change these IP addresses with a Quick Start Wizard or a Network Update. Every time I try to do it I receive this message in the Wizard Results page:

Apply Errors
Node ID: resources-LAN-Lan2-Resources-IPAddr
Error: Invalid Data Value (Duplicate Subnet Number) [13.5.8]

What does it mean? I have done a lot of Network Updates to other BCMs and never received a message like this.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

I've never seen it change the IP address just doing an upgrade.

Have you tried the serial port to make the IP change?

Yes...but the port didn't function. This is something really strange. Before I made the upgrade, I applied a Network update to the BCM. So it had the IP addresses that our network needs: LAN1=192.168.0.3/24 and LAN2=10.0.0.0/8. But, while the upgrade was running, these IP addresses changed to their default values: LAN1=10.10.10.1/24 and LAN2=10.10.11.1/24. So I had to re-assign the IP addresses thru a Network Update. But, as the wizard ends I received a message of errors, and the IP addresses of the equipment remains the same (The default).

Do you think I could do this job using the serial port. Maybe it didn't work because I am using an USB-DB9 cable connected directly to my laptop, but I am thinking that it would be worth to try using a hand-made cable whose pin-out is according to the guide.

I had that happen during a 3.5 to 3.7 upgrade. Turned out I was a victim of the dreaded BFT issue and it reared it's ugly head while the upgrade was processing. I had to do a backup post-upgrade, replace the BFT, re-image a new 3.7 HD and then restore.

All was fine at that point.

Have you checked the caps for distortion/leakage?

If the serial port isn't working then like MagnaRGP said you may have a bad BFT. What is the model # NT7B10????

I've had the same issue with a new 3.7 drive. The work around I used was to change the subnet to 255.255.0.0 that is if your subnet is 255.255.255.0
