Hello, I would appreciate any help.

Our HO has a BCM 50, our warehouse has a BCM 400.

If someone at HO dials my extension, it goes across our IP bridge and rings at my desk fine. The problem is when I am on my softphone. My desk still rings, but not my softphone. My softphone will ring if you enter my extension when calling into our BCM 400, but not our BCM 50.

Sooooooo, does anyone know how to get my softphone to work for internal extension dialing from a remote location?

Thanks
Matt

Can you get calls if someone dials your softphone extension directly? If so, you can just put your softphone's extension as an answer DN on your desk phone and your desk set as one on your softphone.

If they can't call you on your softphone, then you probably don't have a target line set up to direct it there or you don't have a route at the far end to get it there.

telcodog, you hit the nail on the head. I cannot call my softphone from the other location. It sounds like I need to set up a target line or do the route.

I will try to figure the rest out myself but if I need some assistance I will add to this thread. Thanks
Matt

OK, I tried what I thought was setting a target line but it is not working.

Can you please fill me in on how to do this? Since the call makes it to our side with the BCM400, I assume we need to do the target line at the 400?

Thanks
Matt

A couple of assumptions on my part first.

Your 2050 set is connected and registered to the 400 .
Your desk set is connected to the 400.
Users from the 50 can call your desk set.
Users from the 50 cannot call your 2050 set whether it's online or not.
Users on the 400 can call your 2050 set.
You can call users from your desk set to users at the 50.
You can call users on the 50 from your 2050 set.

What you want to have happen, is when someone calls your desk set, you want the call to ring on your 2050 set as well, and vice versa.

What are the extension numbers of you desk set and yor 2050?

Your assumptions are correct.

My desk is 5226, My 2050 is 5456 both these are on the 400.
The 50 side is 6XXX. I can contact them by either means no problem, they can only contact my 5226.

My 2050 works fine with the answer DN if the call originates on the 400 side.

Thanks
Matt

OK, sounds like you just have to set up a target line on the 400 end to match your 2050's extension number and you should be good to go. If you're not sure how to do it, just use the setup for your desk phone as a guide.

Give it a try. If you still have trouble, continue to reply here and we'll get you fixed up.

OK, a little but closer but not 100%.

With the target line, I can dial into the other location (Bcm 50) and enter my desk extension 5226 and my desktop and 2050 will ring.

However,

Extension dialing from the other location to 5226 will not ring my 2050 at 5456.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Matt
