What are the long-term effects of a red alarm on the temperature LED? System shutdown?? The room is very warm and I don't know how long the alarm has been active. I've told the customer to provide proper ventilation to cool room down.

i had this problem once. strange things happened after the BCM ran hot a while.

- Unified manager was unreachable
- UTPS service freezed
- backup was not possible anymore

and so on...

I switched off the machine, cooled it down and turned it on again. everything was fine then. I think i had some luck :)

Thx RedComet.
I figured something like that would happen. Hopefully when I present these details to the customer, they'll push to find a way to cool the room down so they can protect their investment.

There is a fault on some BCMs that the temperature light is red regardless there is a patch for it. But if you feel the room is to warm. That is probably the reason the light is lit.

I received occasional cyclic temperature alarm with one of our BCM 3.6 boxes and while doing a case with Nortel it occurred and the ITAS engineer said that there was a sensor issue with some of the BCMs and there was a patch for it now. We did a universal profile and dumped the alarm log and it went away.

There was also a recent patch to 3.6 that corrected an overly sensitive temp alarm condition.

Thx everyone.

I will make plans to load the patch ut I still think the room is too hot as the alarm didn't appear when it was install 3mths ago. The customer still needs to find a way to cool the room down.

i had a similar problem, the box would stop going to AA and voicemail and i couldnt' ping the BCM but the phones still worked... we tried cooling the room, applygn the patch and reseating all the cards.. eventually the system died completely and we had to have the vendor send a new one. not much of an answer but maybe there's a defect?
