Lo folks, I'm trying to design a solution for a client with a unique business plan :

He is setting up a company that rents rooms to businesses on a "full day" or "half day" basis. Each time they book a room they may not get the same one, and he wants them to be able to get their own phone number when they sign up.

He wants them to punch in a code on the phone when they enter the room and the system will automatically route calls to that DID to the specific extension number.

Is this "roaming" format possible? is the BCM the best solution to go for?

Personal, I don't thinking the BCM would be a perfect fit for this "hotelling" concept. Hotdesking requires the assigned extension to be active before you can hotdesk onto another extension, which uses 2 IP licenses. Additionally, you need to set "Keep DN Alive" on the original extension.

Hotdesking is designed more to allow users to temporarily roam from their main desk to another desk. Not to allow them to login and out on demand.

Our remote users have i2050 softphones on their laptops with is their primary extension, then when they come into the office they hotdesk at an open desk.

BCM200 -3.6

I am not possitive, but it sounds more like a hotel/motel setup. I nr=ever did the application but maybe in the hospitality setup.

thx guys so if BCM isnt what system is best for this "hotelling"-like idea...?

The Nortel Networks Option 61 or 81 might be better suited. I have known some hotels with it.

I would advise you to contact a Nortel Vendor in your area to discuss your needs/application.

Arent Option 61 or 81 overshooting it a little? The client only has 30 rooms and thus only 30 extensions are required. Option 81 needs an entire room just for itself! :)

I think Katzeye needs to talk with engineering to fit the proper application to the needs with a growth factor in mind.

I know I am not qualified to go any further on this subject- just trying to give some guidance at this point.

It might not even be that Nortel can give the best solution for the pricing, but the customer will have a hard time to deal with a tenant switch scenario if they only look at pricing.

Every complaint or additional time on their part will induce a major impact on their viability to serve their customers. It must work-99.9% of the time.

You could do this with a mitel 3300ICP, has hotdesking on IP sets and a full hotel/motel package. PMS and Call Accounting are external addons. (you asked aboutthis in the other forums)

Katzeye1,

You could assign each customer as an agent in their own right in their own group. This would mean that they can go to any room and "login" to the BCM. Offer them an I.N. number pointed at the incoming circuit and assign it to the group - any outside calls will go direct to their group or mailbox which will be the room they are given. I think...

Avaya Definity can do this exactly the way you want. Just leave the phone cross wired to a port and the station (DN)built with the port left blank (or x'd out). Pick up the phone and dial in the extension you want it to be. Done.
