BCM Redundancy

Have inherited a site with a BCM400 system and an expansion rack. In the last week both power supplies have gone pop. Whilst replacing the Power Supplies. I was shocked to see just one drive and one fan in each box!
Is their a recommended redundancy upgrade path? i.e. RAID with mirror, (I am in the UK but can only see a kit in the USA, will it work? My drive is 19.1GB, the kit says 160G)
And any advise for redundant power and fans or anything to keep this stable please?

Dont Be Shocked thats the way they come.
You can Purchase a redundancy kit, 2 power units, 2 fans and order a RAID.
This needs a Keycode and Blank Hard disk.

I have only done them on BCM450 rel5,rel6.
Cant do Raid on Rel 1.

Not sure about 4.0 Raid though.

es, you can have RAID 1 on the 400.......unfortunately you can't buy anything for the 400 from Avaya anymore. It was end of life a long time ago. You would have needed the redundant drive hardware kit and the software license, but as I said, those parts have all been removed from the order system at Avaya (no part numbers to order). Your only hope would be if a stocking distributor had some of that stuff laying around but you still might not be able to activate the license in KRS.

I recently reset a BCM 400 at R4 that had a redundant power supply and a redundant hard drive. As previously stated shop around Nortel resellers and hope that one has an auth code laying around.

As far as I remember, raid on BCM400 was hardware only and didn't require any keycodes. BCM450 R5/R6 is software raid and is activated via keycode.

Rather than trying to source manufacture discontinued hardware. You might be better of just getting the BCM400 - BCM450 upgrade kit with raid included. It is still available from Avaya and will be for 2-3 years.

Yes, you did require a keycode in the 400!
