BCM RAID Shutdown

I am after some advise or if there are any recommendations for a RAID BCM system being shut down (powered down). I have been advised that there may be issues if you just shut down the BCM with RAID. Any suggestions are appreciated.

It's best to shutdown the right why, but life isn't always on your side, like power fails, can't get into system to shutdown, so just pull the plug.
