Hi everyone,
i've had a Nortel BCM for a while now just sitting at home, but havent really had time to play with it. I'm a little clueless to where to start to be honest! ive been told that its very similar to the Norstar apart from the layer two switch etc.
Can anyone help, any PDF programming guides or tips? It would be greatly appreciated!

All of the documation and guides are on the BCM itself.
Do you know what software release your BCM is? That will make a difference on how to get into it.

I dont really know to be honest, its fairly old. It could be 2.5? Someone in another forum gave me some docs, but still having probs. Any tips on connecting? i put in explorer but have no joy????!!!

there will a serial port on the BCM, connect that to ur PC with procomm/ hyperterminal set to 9600 N 8 1

And power on the BCM ...

see how far that goes ... do u get a login on that?

Does the BCM has 2 or 3 or 4 mediabays (slots)?

Cheers guys,
Just gonna try that, it has three expansion slots. Does the cable need to be just a standard RS232 to RS232?

No, you need a serial crossover, or NULL cable. RS232
Easy way to remember is if you go directly from computer to computer, your transmit pin has to hit the other ends receive pin.
Same as NAM. computer to computer, but Flash (for example)is not a pc, so a straight thru cable is required.
Did I word that where it makes sense?

Cheers Marv...that made complete sense. I'll let you know how it gets on.
