I have a BCM 3.6 that was fine up until I went to a customers yesterday. We were testing Personal Call Manager that worked fine on my XP notebook with a crossover cable, but would not work on his Windows 2003 Professional. The BCM was changed to Windows NT2000 Domain, connected to his network and after that neither of us could log in. He did err in logging in with a typo 2/3 times but I don't think that was the problem. Later, I could log in on the serial port specifying EDGE as domain, and still using the same login/password. I could not log in on explorer and continue to get the incorrect/locked password? Any ideas how to get back into this unit via explorer or what dos command line could be used to reset this unit to get back in? I'm also curious as to whether we were on the right path changing to windows NT2000 domain to correct the Personal Call Manager not working on his Windows 2003 Network?

All help and comments are apprectiated.

I got this unit back to the shop and started trying to see if I could get into it again. I did get into it and found it to be fairly unstable? Sometimes I'd get in and other times it would just hang and then give me a message that it couldn't connect to the BCM server? I found that the MSC card was loose in the unit so I powered down and resecured it. The system Online light would sometimes flash and sometimes light solid. I figured maybe the MSC card was corrupted as I've had one before. I tried initialization and it gave me an error telling me that one pec card was bad and to replace it by process of elimination? How do you do that? I just replaced all 4 pec1's and restarted the unit. Now it doesn't come up at all? What now? Re-initialize or universal profile? Any ideas? Thanks to all for any leads on this.

Marshall,

This is not an in-service unit so I cam reset it or anything I need to get to get it back up. Since then, I changed all the 4 Pec1's and now it just comes up with a power light only after the hard drive runs for a while and then reboots after some time. If I do go in through the serial port and attempt to access the initialization menu, it just hangs for a long time and when it does finally come up it still says I have a bad PEC card and should isolate the one bad card and replace? I was considering just putting a virgin hard drive in it. The MSC Card was loose in the unit earlier and that may explain the initial problem. It did come up as functional after securing the card, but after changing the PEC cards this is the result?

MSC Card is working as system does come up (system startup & system online) and sets are functional. Just no hard drive activity after initial minute or two of acctivity.

Try mrmarshall's suggestion first. If you cannot boot with a reimaged HD connect a monitor and keyboard directly to the BCM.

Can you watch the boot messages using a monitor directly connected to the unit?
If you can get into setup, you have ruled out bios corruption.
If you cannot get into setup, remove all cards,HD, and move the bios jumper to config, remove the bios battery and then replace the bios jumper. Boot and test.
Please repost so we can know how it works out.

I installed an imaged drive and the system was back up. I took it back out to the site again and when the setting was changed to window 2000 domain, it tried to register on his network, but could be seen to be present on his network. When the network cable was left connected to his network, we got the password incorrect/locked out message again. On unplugging the network cable, we could could back in again using the same password? He's using windows 2003 server with windows xp pro on the workstations. Any ideas? Does anyone else have it connected to 2003 servers?

I am using 2003 Server with no problems. I don't use XP Pro on my laptop but there shouldn't be any issues.
