I have a bcm 400 connected to a very vanilla Valcom paging system. There are no zones, amplifiers or adjustments that I can make to the paging equipment. When I take a test set and go off hook at the valcom all speakers come on and it's good to go. When I hook it up to the phone system and initiate a page the speakers take about 10 seconds to all come on. Some come on right away others take longer and pages get missed. Any ideas why the speakers don't come up simultaneously?

The delay in paging happens when paging the speaker only (Feature 62)?

Only delay paging problems I've encountered have been paging through the phones when IP sets are in the mix.

All phones are IP phones in this particular location. Is there anything I can do about it?

There were "paging performance enhancement" patches released some time ago. That only applies to pages going over the IP sets though.

Do you page through the sets as well as the overhead system, or just through the overhead paging?

They simply can't "survive" without using page all.

BCM 4.0 is supposed to address this. Problem is Nortel won't multicast an all page to IP phones. Our company installs overhead paging if an all call page is needed. Sounds like you already have a paging amp. The best thing is to add more overhead speakers to the areas that need them. Another option I have tried and works OK is to split the IP phones into smaller paging groups. This will require you to make multiple page announcements to the different zones (you still couldn't us all page).
