BCM Networking/Fall Back Routing Question

I have a customer with 1, BCM400 V400 and 13 BCM50's (a mixture of R1, R2, and R3) all networked via VoIP trunks. I have 4-digit dialing, call routing, Tandem dialing, and Fall Back Routing (VoIP falls back to PSTN). Everything is working fine.

I have Fall Back Routing set up so that if a user in BCM A dials a long distance number that is local in BCM B, the call routes thru the VoIP trunks, and out as a local call via PSTN in BCM B. If the VoIP trunks in BCM A are all busy or down, the call will route out the PSTN in BCM A. (I have this working in all 14 BCM's)

The customer wants to know if Fall Back routing can also be set up so that if the VoIP trunks in BCM B are all busy or down and a user in BCM A dials a number that is normally routed thru the VoIP and then the PSTN in BCM B so that the call will then route thru the PSTN in BCM A.

In other words: Can a call from BCM A that goes thru BCM B via VoIP and VoIP is down or busy in BCM B be pulled back or rerouted so it will go out the PSTN of BCM A.

Have I confused every one?

Yes it can. You can have up to three routes defined per destination code.

Can you be a little more specific? In BCM A, I have 1 route set up for 260-456-1234 to route thru BCM B via VoIP and then out BCM B's PSTN. Also, In BCM B, I have a route set up to have 260-456-1234 go out the BCM A PSTN if BCM A's VoIP is busy or down.

If the VoIP trunks are busy or down, in BCM B, how does BCM A get the call back to route over the PSTN in BCM A?

Clarification; a user dials 9-1-260-459-XXXX at BCM A. the call routes thru the VoIP trunks to BCM B and then out the PSTN at BCM B. If BCM A's VoIP trunks are down or busy, the call is routed thru the PSTN at BCM A.

If the VoIP trunks are down at BCM B, the call does not go thru. Can I get the call,originated in BCM A, to re-route thru the PSTN in BCM A if the VoIP trunks are busy or down in BCM B?

Here is what I have set up for fall back routing:

In BCM A
91260459A Normal route = 5 (PSTN) Absorb = 1
First route = 8 (VoIP) Absorb = 5

I think I have it figured out. It appears that I need to load the latest system update patch on the 400. YEEEHAAA I wonder what problems this system patch will cause.

BogeyShooter, could you tell me how to set up the Fall Back Routing? I can't find any info.

Assuming that you have routing programmed do the following.

You have to have Routing Service turned on in order for it to work. I set mine up as Automatic and runs 24 hours a day.

In the routing table set the route that you want the call to follow as your "FIRST ROUTE" and the OVERFLOW route will be the "NORMAL ROUTE". It sounds backwards but that's how it works. Make sure that your Absorb digits are correct.

Once Services are on you will see "Services On" in the control set display, so be mindful of which phone you set as the control set.

I have a problem reciving busy tone, Im using right now:

H323 trunk bewtween SITE A and SITE B for calling SITE A's phone to SITE's B phone using 8+DN.

SITE A
Destination code = 8
Normal Route = 000 -> PSTN
Alternate Route:
Night:
First Route = 001 -> VOIP
Private recived number = 4

SITE B
Destination code = 8
Normal Route = 000 -> PSTN
Alternate Route:
Night:
First Route = 001 -> VOIP
Private recived number = 4

SCHEDULED SERVICE
Night--> Monday(Today) 13:00 22:59 (Already start)
Night Routing service=All Overflow=true Trunk answer=true

My question is, if I call from site A to site B using IP trunk my BCM B is waiting for a 4 digit number for pass the call to a phone, how Site B going to know that I want is a Trunk Line not call to a phone?

What are you dialing from site A? You need to make sure that your Absorb digits are correct in your routes.

Im dialing 18095401195, but I can only choose Absorb all or Absorb 0 because Im only using a one digit destination code, right now I have this:

Absorbed lenght = All
Destination code = 8
Normal Route = 000 -> PSTN

Absorbed lenght = All
Alternate Route:
Night:
First Route = 001 -> VOIP

Wait, in case all I want is to call from Site A to Site B thru the VoIP trunk adn take a Site B's trunk, only that

Are you using routing? Are you dialing "9" and then the number and if so is "9" a line pool code or a rousting destination code?

I've not done exactly what you want but I have routing set so that if a user in BCM A dials a long distance number that is local to BCM B, the call routes thru the VoIP and out the PSTN in BCM B.

You probably need to set up a destination code in BCM A that points to the
VoIP and then grabs a trunk in the PSTN Line pool in BCM B.
