I need to replace a BCM motherboard.
Upon inspection I noticed the factory motherboard is a standard small form factor ATX Intel CA810e motherboard.
Has anyone tried replacing the BCM motherboard with an off the rack motherboard CA810e or otherwise?
I had a BCM 1000 motherboard go bad and it is a Endura PW810-V, but I have not been able to locate a new one. I've been told that the CMOS does have Nortel special programming on it.
Are you having trouble with Vmail.? Nortel has a Bulletin PAA-2004-0238-Global. They will replace the mother board for free if it is on the list. iIf you want a copy of it, post your Email address and I will send you a copy.
BCM is unbootable due to portway motherboard and electrolytic capacitors gone bad.
Confirmed with Nortel.
I have the product bulletin, but thanks anyway.
I was reading this post and am confused by your response. I know there is a Nortel post regarding the Portway Board and I would guess that model would be PW810xxx. Your initial post indicated that you were needing to replace a CA810e. Is this a model for a problem portway board as well?
Ace which off the shelf motherboards have you tried?
Are you saying any board can be used as long as it will fit in the cabinet.
How does one flash the CMOS with a Nortel firmware?
Nortel is not quick to replace even with the product bulletin in hand and I have a very unhappy customer.
Coupled with the fact I will have to regenerate keycodes and do a BRU I would rather just replace the motherboard.
the old plugin ones you could, but it's hard with the soldered in one's. good like. Nortel sent me a new BCM to replace the one that was bad took me about 2 hr to reprogram and add the new keycodes.
