I never came across this situation, I lost a battle with my carrier.

Tried to call London from Toronto but soon as I dialed 11 digits I got their carrier telling me "call not allowed".
94 011 44 208 XXX XXXX (17 digits)

My argument:
-Monitor showed all 17 digits going out (including my Dest code)
-BCM does not play greetings on the outbound.

Setup Dial Plan was:
0 - 11
01 - 17
1 - 11
011- 17
Default - 13

In the end I had to bump up Default to 17.
The carriers call log was not seeing my last 4 digits.

I had this same issue trying to call local long distance and why Default was at 13.

So seems the prefix settings under both 1 and 011 are meaningless and that Monitor will let you dial endlessly so the term "look at monitor to see if digits going out" is useless.

FYI I am using SIP lines and why my Dest code is not absorbed at the beginning, it is done so via SIP setting discreetly instead.

1. Why are those prefixes not working as they should?
2. Is it normal for Monitor to show digits pressed rather than digits passed?

Sounds like a sticky wicket...

I have no idea why your 1 or 011 prefixes don't work, but I agree with you that BCM Monitor only monitors what you input instead what is actually sent out the route...(learned that lesson a few years ago).

I don't know whether the BCM has a debug program or a putty interface (they used to have the putty, but I think Nortel may have killed access to that one with the 3.6 release) that actually shows digits sent out across the pipe.

I think BCM Monitor is a useful tool that can show a lot of information - you just need to know where to look (and possibly how to interpret the data).

The Line Monitor tab can be used to see overview of trunk usage. The UIP tab can be used to see details of the ISDN protocol (low level ISDN messaging). The implementation of SIP trunks on BCM uses Universal ISDN Protocol at the low level - hence, you can see ISDN style messages even for SIP trunk calls. If you want to see actual SIP messages exchanged between BCM and the other SIP device, you can capture the IP traffic and use WireShark to analyze the data.

Thanks, it is useful I use it all the time....but the rest of the features is not related.

Isn't it that 94 doesnt match any of your prefixes therefore will use the default which was set to 13 digits so after dialing 94 011 xxxxxxxx you get that message?
I guess it would have worked if you would have dial 9 011 xxxxxxxxxx, what is the 4 after the 9 for?

Yes you are correct, I was looking the wrong way and forgot to add 94011 as my prefix indeed.
I use and program as much as possible 2 digit dest codes so I am not as limited.
