BCM Modem will not answer properly

HI,

ON some of the BCM's I maintain the modem will not answer and if it does the verificarion of username and password takes forever.

The setup is the same as those that do work so it is not a config issue to the best of my knowledge. Just wonderig if anyone there has seen the same issues.

BCM's always better with VPN access that modem is crap.

Is the patch level the same amongst all BCMs? Are they all the same release?

Are some using PRI and you access through a target line? If so you have to allow ISDN access in the dial-up resources. Aslo, If the line being used comes through an IAD, you'll have a lot of trouble because of compression on the SIP side. Better to use a 1fb.

The PATCHING is pretty much up to date on all of the sites but there are some different releases of software alright.
The issues are mostly with BRI and target lines. I cannot recall having an issue with a full PRI.

The modem answers and sometimes tries to verify the user/pass but it never handshakes properly. But again the strange thing is that it works fine on some BRI sites??

The only consistant way I've found to connect to the modem is by using an analog flat business line. Just about everything else has given me problems. I think the root cause is service providers using SIP in their network so the call gets treated as an ordinary voice call. A couple of my providers have been able to program their routers to use G.711 for just the DNIS I'm using to access the modem. You might also get them to try T.38 but really an analog line will probably fix the problem. I can occasionally adjust my terminal baud rate at sites where I have issues and get it to work.
