Hi All,

Does anyone have a Feature Matrix showing which features are available in which software versions for the BCM, and a current one for MICS. All I've found out on the net is a MICS matrix and it doesn't include 6 or 6.1

The BCM feature matrix is the one I'm most interested in at the moment though.

I am trying to do some comparisions for a possible client upgrade. They currently have MICS ver 6 with a NAM ver 4.0 They are doing some used BCM shopping and I want to make sure that whatever version software they end up with on the BCM isn't going to lose them any options (that they use) from their existing MICS/NAM setup.

Thanks,

well to start the bcm really didnt get all the bugs out untill the last release so shopping for a used one is looking for trouble the features would be the same on the phone end and the call pilot will replace the name without losing any features except for size/capacity

If it's a BCM 2.5 or better, you can upgrade to the latest software (3.5) for free.

But the upgrades are not going too well, and there are still more and more patches being produced.

AvayaGuy, I'm intrigued by the upgrade info there as that could make the possibilities much better if I know that I will be able to get them current version as long as whatever I find for them is 2.5 or newer.

Are there details available somewhere on the free upgrade? Is it direct through Nortel or through dealers or ???

Thanks

yes ..nortel is providing a free upgrade of software ... dont know when it'll expire.

As long as a the BCM is version 2.5 or better, you can upgrade to the latest and greatest.

In order to upgrade to the latest and greatest, you will have to be an authorized dealer, have one upgrade for you ($$$), or become best friends with one. You need to get a access code to do the upgrade, and the code is different for every BCM (serial number based).

The BCM is a good product, we use it in our office (we're a interconnect) and we have no problems. We use both IP and regular TDM (T series) phones.

I did not know there was a lot of problems with the patches. I have not noticed and serious problems, and we are running the most current 3.5. Version 3.6 will be released to us in the next could of weeks (beta, certian dealers only). I like version 3.5, no problems that I can see.

Patches/Upgrades: I just want to say, there is NO phone system in the world that is 100% bug free. Yes, Nortel has introduced a number of patches, but no more then any other IP/Telephony switch manufacture. The IPOffice from Avaya has received the same number of patches. No matter how many patches are released, you will never get rid of all the problems, its impossible.
