Hi All,

Being a complete newbie to Nortel BCM I must say this forum has been very useful. So useful I've spent the last 72 hours just soaking it all in.

I picked up a BCM400 (4.0) for next to nothing on eBay about six months ago but have only come round to fully realising how useful it could be after a friend spotted it in my basement.

My question: I am told they are being phased out so I may need to get BCM50 to set up the call center project I have thought up. The documentation on the Avaya site has a bit about tranferring licenses from a BCM200 to a BCM400. Is it posibble to to port them to a BCM50 too? Would an Avaya partner take issue with my not being the initial owner of the BCM400?

There are 32UCM/32VM/32LAN CTE/1ICC/10ICC Agents/2ICC Skillsets on the BCM400. Would love to be able to reuse these if possible.

Looks like what you have keycode wise is good to go with setting up a call center so I'm not sure why you would want to migrate it to a 50? You can upgrade the 400's to 450's, they no longer manufactor BCM 400's they only make 50's and 450's. If I was you I would keep it the way it is unless your just trying to get on 6.0.

Thanks for the response NorstarBoy.

I hunted around a bit for the upgrade option to a 450 plus extra licenses for Call Recording, MMCC, 16 IP seats, VoIP GW and SIP. The upg/licensing costs to the 450 seem to shade the BCM50 by quite a bit.

Unless of course I am missing the obvious and someone can point it out to me, the TCO is much less for the 50s than the 450 because of the outlay on the upgrade kit and less than the 400s when adding on features later? (according to the exteradirect anyway)
