BCM Keycode File Name Question

I have a BCM 1000 3.7 I inherited. The drive crashed so everything was lost.

The IT guy before me made a ghost image of the drive in case something like this were to happen. And through reading the posts here (thank you everyone), I have been able to get the system back up an running - but not functional.

I have to apply a keycode file that we got from Nortel so I can turn everything back on. I found a file that says keyfile.txt, but none of them work. I think it was for another system. According to him, all I have to do is "Apply New Keycode File" under Configuration and everything will be restored. Unfortunately, I don't know what file it is looking for. Does anyone know what the filename is the system is looking for?

I would really hate to have to re-purchase everything.

On a Bcm 3.7 you have to manually enter each keycode separetely or restore the keycode file thru bru utility.
You can ask your vendor to retrieve your keycodes from Nortel's KRS if Nortel have them in their database.(ie:graymarket).

Gberger,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Are you sure it has to be manually input and that it cannot be imported from a file? There is a utility to apply a keycode file (see attachment).

I am asking because the vendors I have called only want to sell me new codes and my boss is adamant that we already paid for these things. Unfortunately, the company that we bought them from has gone out of business so I cannot go after them.

The previous IT guy said that he got a keycode file from Nortel (not the vendor) that applied everything and he saved it to the network. If I knew the name, I could search for it.

If I have to buy again, can you recommend a good vendor?

Are you sure that the software level is 3.7 and not 4.0? How are you connecting to the BCM?

DigitelD - the splash screen that opens when I click "Configure" under Unified Manager says "Business Communications Manager 3.7"

thanks for the response.

The reason I asked is that you load the keycodes with a file from Nortel. On the 3.X machines you enter the keycodes manually in Unified Manager.

Update!

Thanks everyone for their responses. The IT just sent me an email saying that the file name is the <system identifer.key>.

I searched our network and found it under his personal network folder in a folder called "applications" (never would have thought to look there).

Anyway, I applied the file and all functions came back up. So, I guess the moral to the story is that the license file for BCM 3.7 uses the convention: SystemID.key

Again, thanks everyone the posts on this forum has helped immensely!
