hi

Can someone advise me.

We have the ip phones connected to a POE switch, which powers the phones fine.
When trying to add ip phones, to the system, I am unsure as to how the POE switch connects to the actual BCM.

I've tried a few different ports on the front, but cannot get a connection between an ip phone and the bcm.
We had a tech guy on remotely who configured the system, but the ip phones won't find the bcm.

I've searched everywhere and cannot find a diagram that says where the switches connect to the bcm - if someone can advise?

Rob

I would be lost without TekTips!!

The BCM system will have an IP address that the IP phone needs to see. You need to log into the BCM and find what it is.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I have the ip address, I just cannot see how the BCM would connect to the ip phones.
The POE switch that is powering the ip units,is not connect in any way to the BCM. Surely the poe switch needs to be connected to the BCm, and i'm not sure it is connected to the right port, or maybe the switch and the bcm should be connected to the network router?

I would also log into one of the working IP phones you have and see the set up then do the same for the new ones. Of corse you need to have licences /keycodes for them. Reboot the IP set and when the Noetel or avaya log comes up press the 4 soft keys one at a time from left to right to access the config.

The second port from the left. 1- admin port, 2- LAN port, 3- Expant 1, 4 - Expant 2. If the BCM was set to DHCP - Sets only, the sets should just find, or the BCM will find the sets. If set for static - the sets will need to be set for S1 - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx of the assinged ip of the BCM.
