BCM/IP Office MCDN?

Current: All BCM's are networked together via CS1K with H323 trunking using Nortel MCDN

Future Ideas: Bring all BCM's current with SIP to talk to the IP Office (New Installs)

Does anyone know if the IP Office will support MCDN? Or what feature can be activated on the IP Office to support the same features as MCDN and still work with existing BCM's?

Any ideas would be appericated...

Had not tried with H323 yet but SIP with IPO 500 v2 rel 7 is working fine to BCM50 v 3

MCDN is Nortel proprietary so the IPO wont acknowledge any MCDN messages. That said, SIP from IPO to BCM works. You need sip trunk licenses in the IPO. You'll get name and number delivered, but no message waiting lights. As long as the IPOs use their own voicemail you'll be fine.

Talked to Avaya and they are recommending the Avaya B5800 Branch Gateway and not the IPO?
Has anyone worked on the B5800? Pros? Cons?

The B5800 is an IP Office with a slightly different feature set, similar to what SRG is to BCM. I've learned that it depends who you talk to at Avaya. The enterprise guys don't get paid for SME sales, so they recommend the enterprise products. The B5800 sales commissions go to the enterprise side of Avaya, not the SME side. Same reason there are 9400 and 9500 series phones. Essentially the same phone, but 9500s are for IPO and 9400s are for CM/Aura, yet will also work on IPO.

I didn't know the 5800 interoperated with CS1000 unless there was a system manager/session manager/aura was involved.

Personally I'd either go with IP Office or upgrade the BCMs, whichever you are more comfortable with.
