BCM IP Configuration Question

Hi, I have a BCM 400 with 4.0 sotware version.

I have 2 LAN on it. LAN 1 (one) is setup with a Class A IP which is an static IP address provided by my ISP and directly connected to my ISP router. LAN 2 is having a Class C IP 192.168.x.x to where i have IP phones 1140e connected to it.

I have an IP Phone at home (1140e) and another one i a different outside location. both phones point the S1 address the LAN 1 on the server and get connected fine. I'm able to place calls etc. Now, if i call from home an extension which is behind LAN 2 people hear me but i do not hear them. If i call from home an extension of another phone which is somewhere else (not home and connected to LAN1) there is no problem communicating.

In resume, the problem consist when calling an extension behind LAN 2 i cannot hear. I presume i must setup some routing from LAN1 to LAN2, but need to know exactly where to do this. could you please advice how to proceed and sort out this issue.

Check out for any Firewall.... specially behind LAN 2...

No firewalls on it. Neither any ports open. I presume i need to route from LAN1 to LAN2, but need to know how to define the route directly on the BCM routing settings.

The BCM group may be a better help...

Are you using IP trunks or COPPER/PRI trunks?

PRI Trunks, but note :
1. Only one BCM
2. All phones connected on LAN1 and LAN2 are IP 1140e
3. Again, problems are when dialing an extension from a phone on LAN 1 to one in Lan2.
4. If i dial the direct number (PRI Number) from LAN1 to LAN2 it works, that leaves the problem on IP routes i guess.

The BCM itself seems to to be letting packages flow thru LAN1 to LAN2 as no route configured... Any ideas how to do the routing configuration?

I may have mis read your question, but are you using the LAN 1 address via some sort of broadband connection with a static IP address?.

I was having the same problem many months ago with this, but I gave up in the end. My internal IP phones worked fine, but I couldn't get any of my colleagues to connect. I was wondering if it was some sort of NAT translation. I did come across some port numbers that someone told me were worth looking at.

I have no idea if it's of any use?.

BCM Port Information

Port 6800 is used to enable you to access unified manager via Internet explorer.

Also Ports 1718 UDP H.323, 1719 UDP H.323 and 1720 TCP H.323 - Call Signalling.

Yes, i have an Static IP on LAN 1, but probably different to your experience month ago, i do can cconnect from remote sites to the BCM.

I came to know that the Nortel BCM way of working is direcctly connecting calls when you're dialing internal extensions, the same on IP phones... let them comunicate direcctly.

As having 2 different IP sets on the BCM but 2 different network card, you need to set a route, which is where i'm wondering if someone gives me an idea on how to do this.

In the meantime i had placed a router connected to the interrnet and then all phones which were on LAN2 and now the remote phones can communicate OK, but the disadvantage is thhose phones meant to be in LAN1 are using internet bandtwith which is not key. So to avoid this i'm quite sure i need to set a rounting configuration on the BCM, there is a rounting option for this, but i don't know how to configure it...
