Has anyone experienced problems w/ the GATM 8 card? I know there's a bulletin on the BCM 50, but I don't see anything on BCM 3.7/3.6.

I installed one recently on a BCM 3.7 (Bus 7), it powered up ok but when I checked the module status it says "unequipped." I tried disabling the card & then re-enabling it and no change. I rebooted the switch & no change.

I believe when installing the GATM 8 that there is no need to touch the country DIP switch settings as I've never had to touch them before. Anyway I tried changing the country DIP switch setting to N.A. and was only able to get dialtone on the last four ports w/ the first four showing unequipped. I then tried putting the country switch settings back to default and then got no dialtone. I then switched them back and again only had dialtone on the last 4 ports. The first 4 when accessed on the set said incoming only which is weird as the card is set for loop.

I had the same issue recently when I had to replace a GATM8 on a BCM 3.6. The only way I could get dialtone was to change the country DIP switches to N.A. but I was able to get dialtone on all 8 ports.

I have the same issues on a BCM3.6. Nortel is working on the situation and is saying that it's a software issue.

I would suggest moving it off of BUS7 and to BUS5. What is your configuration like (i.e. modules etc.)?

As long as you leave the country dip switch settings at 0 (off) and your system is programmed as North America, you will be in good shape there.

hook up a phone to it. That should bring in into service

Had this happen on a couple cards back in the 3.5 days. The case got to second level before it was determined that I had three bad cards out of four. Not bad odds.

I don't think hooking a phone to a GATM will bring the module into service.

I actually had the lines appearing on a set but couldn't get dt. It looks like I have 2 problems. The first mentioned above and a bad slot 4. Slot 4 bus 7, 6, 5, wouldn't work. Moved card to Slot 2 and bus 7 worked until I did a reboot then stopped working, bus 6 ndt but bus 5 worked.

Put call into Nortel and they know of no issues w/ the latest rls of GATM8s. They suggested replacing the cabinet. Once it arrives, I'll let you know the outcome.

Replaced cabinet and all is good.
