This info came from a good friend of mine yesterday.

Here are the following response from Avaya on BCM Licenses

At what point will we not be able to purchase licenses for BCM 200 / 400 / 1000 regardless of version?

March 1, 2012

At what point will we not be able to purchase licenses for BCM 50 / 450 regardless of version?

Oct 1, 2015

At what point will we not be able to purchase licenses for BCM 50 / 450 Release 6.

Oct 1, 2015

If a BCM 50 / BCM 450 release 1 to 5 customer wants to purchase licenses after the 1st March 2012 / 1st October 2012 can they purchase upgrades to release 6 and then purchase for example additional voice messaging licenses?

Yes, we will continue to support SW upgrades to the latest release until Oct 1, 2015. However, they don’t necessarily have to upgrade to the latest release to install some voicemail or UM licenses. Primary upgrade drivers would be new feature in R6 or software support for the latest releases.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

But if you do purchase the codes for the 200/400 before March 1st you can activate them at a later time. The reason I say ths is because if have multiple sites but your not sure which site may grow you can purchase some codes now and install them on the site that needs the codes later. firebird can you verify that with your friend? thanks

Hello Hawks

Here is the reply back. It's not a proper answer!.

Hi David,

This is something I asked our distributor but never got a definite answer. I don’t like the thought of stock piling paper licenses only to find out 3 years later you can’t generate them and they become useless. Avaya’s policy might change without you realizing.

I will check with Avaya but I might not get an answer back in time for them to make a decision on licenses.

firebird, need to ask your guy about this....
I got the following from:

End of Sale Notice
Notification Date: May 31, 2011
Revision Date: January 11, 2012

End of Sale Effective date for new systems is moved to 1 October 2012 (from previous date of 1 March 2012) to allow a smoother transition of Avaya Business Communications Manager (BCM) partners and customers to Avaya IP Office.

Hawks, that is for the BCM450/50. The 200/400 ends on March 1st.

I got this reply back today.

Hi David,

Response from Avaya regarding BCM paper licenses

We will at a minimum offer to use any licenses that were purchased prior to the deadline until the End of Extended Software Support date. In case of the BCM400 4.0 that is in Nov 2014.

Thanks firebird, so I can let my customer know that they could buy some extra codes prior to EOS and activate them on the system they need them on later.
