Howdy from Seattle

Been a long while since I worked on a Nortel BCM. I have a BCM 400 3.7. Site has a DID which appears on their line 2. Each phone also has a 3 digit extension number. Site for some reason, when dialing extension to extension dial the 4 digit DID instead of the 3 digit extension number. This was working for them. Site had a power outage caused by electrical grid work by the local PUD. Analog DID trunks are working. All modules are working. DID's work when dialing from outside 10 or 11 digit. All service is working except they cannot dial 4 digit DID's again which they insist on doing. Any idea where I need to look on this. I gave it a pretty thorough going over.

Thanks,

Soop

Hey from Olympia.....
1 Click the keys beside Services, Telephony Services, General settings
2 Click on DN lengths.
The DN lengths window appears in the right frame.

Sounds like your saying they were and still are 3 digit DNs?

Surprised analog DID's still exist but when you grabbed a DID trunk line you could then dial the last 4 digits of a DID.
What is the method to call the other sets? Intercom or some line button?

Hey guys,

This site is a remote location supported by a legacy CO who has limited ability. That is why they have analog DID trunks.

I just spoke with a tech out on site and have to make a couple of corrections here.

The site has 4 digit extension numbers and not 3 digit. They also have DID numbers that appear on their phones. The DID numbers for some reason do not match up with their extension numbers. This is how they have operated for a long while and do not want to change this. Before the power outage, when dialing extension to extension, they would dial the 4 digit DID number and they would get their called party. They never called the extension number even though that works. For some strange reason, they want to call the 4 digit DID. Calling the DID from outside 10 or 11 digit works. just the 4 digit dial internally that suddenly stopped working.

Thanks

This is just a shot in the dark, but someone may have set those DID "extensions" up as destination codes and used routing to process the calls. It wouldn't be hard to do but would be cumbersome to deal with if you had a lot of them.

Essentially, all you would have to do is set up the first (or more) digit of the DID extension as an access code and just manipulate the routing so it outpulses the users DID number.

I have seen with power outages the pools, access codes assigned to the sets default. need to reassign the pool to the sets.
What does it say on the set when they try to dial the 4 digits.
