What is the combined max of ip sets and digital sets of the BCM400 when utilizing the expansion gateway?

Assuming 1 T-1, you can have 160 digital sets, roughly 80 IP sets and 10 ports of voicemail.

Remove 32 digital sets if you need another T-1 or analog trunks. You can run 16 analog trunks on a DS-30 loop. 32 digital sets occupy one DS-30 loop as well.

If you're talking about the IP expansion gateway, that's just another BCM 400 with a pile of IP trunks to tie two systems together. If you go that route, you could have 192 digital sets, 10 ports of mail, and 80 IP sets in one system, with all your trunks in the "expansion gateway".

If your needs are for that many phones, go with a CS1000 and not a BCM.

There would be 10 Slots but only 6 BUS max.

Config 6/2 split thats 6 x 32 = 192 digital ports and No Bus's for PRI

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I doubt anyone would have a system with no trunks, which is why I assumed there would be at least one T-1.

You're correct though. 192 digital sets, if he wants a huge intercom system. All 4 slots in the main cabinet would be used, and only 2 in the expansion.

thanks for the info on the capacity limits. Im assuming if you max out a system with 90 ipsets there will be 0 voicemail ports.

With that many IP sets you'd have to do a 3-5 split. This leaves only 4 resources for digital sets and 1 resource for a T1/PRI. Voicemail is part of the data bus so it would still be available. Just need keycodes for mailboxes.

good point Brian. Didn't think of that last night.

biv343,

I'm still pretty new to the BCM, but learning quickly as we are selling more of these to our interconnect customers.

You and MagnaRGP helped me get a remote I2002 working a few months ago, so I'm glad I can start contributing my knowledge on this forum. [bigsmile]
