BCM automatically reserves system DNs

Hi All,

I recently programmed a BCm and used DN range 1200 - 1250
I have another location that already has dn range 1300-1370. The problem is that the BCM users cannot dial the 1300 users without dialing an access code. This is because the BCM automatically reserves 1200-1299, 1300-1399, 1400-1499, and defines the DN's that are not in use as inactive System DN's. I want my BCM users to be able to dial 13XX without using a steering code. Can I delete the Inactive System DN's?

Hi

you would have to renumber the range of unused DNs you cannot delete them. The fastest way is to go into wizards select DN renumber and select the range of numbers that conflict with your network. Then use numbers that are available somewhere else in the range. The numbers are reserved because they could potentially be used.

the best thing to do is make your starting dn completely out of the range of any numbers you want to use on any of the systems. then just renumber the ones you are going to use. otherwise you have to renumber every other dn in the system, used or unused. the system numbers every possible port the system is capable of having thus reserving the numbers for future expansion. there are hundreds and hundreds of them and it's very difficult and time consuming to try and find and renumber them all so you can route the ones you need. it's much easier to start way out of the range and then you can move only the ones you need and can route the entire hundred block to your other systems.

If the option is not there to restart you can select all of the numbers in the wizard that conflict in the range and renumber them. You can use your basic shift and control commands in the windows enviroment to select and deselect the numbers. It will take a while for the DN renumber but would save you having to start from scratch.

Thanks so much guys for the quick replies and posts. I new there had to be a way around me doing over my numbering plan. I will definitley try this tomorrow when I get into office. Thanks alot and have a great week!!
