Has anyone gotten a BCM to work with SIP trunks provided by an outside company (ala bandwidth.com) or even know if it's a supported configuration?

As per Nortel documentation
SIP trunks are supported on Succession MCS and Succession 4.5

It is not recommended to use SIP unless you are using the BCM50 Rls3.0 that is coming out. SIP enhancements were made.

SHK Certified (School of Hard Knocks)

BCM SIP trunking is currently only inter-nortel devices. If you can get it to work with third party stuff, then excellent.
