ok..this is REALLY going to show my ignorance on MSExchange, but..here it goes:

I have a question:

Can you configure multiple email acounts to an exchange server login?

example:

Could you have your EXCHANGE server check your hotmail, and your yahoo mail..and bring it all in with your regular mail?

How about an IMAP account?

PARTICULAR EXAMPLE:

Customer has MSExchange server running for email. Nortel BCM treats its unified messaging as an IMAP account. customer wants to have the exchange box handle the IMAP messages from the BCM. Possible?

I don't believe it's possible to have the Exchange server do it, since the integration is at the desktop, and the BCM doesn't know Exchange from a hole in the ground (and vice versa).

You could configure an IMAP account in Outlook to log into the BCM using your mailbox credentials and download the messages into your default message store (which could be your Exchange inbox). Outlook would need to be running in order for that to happen.

What I was looking for was a point of management at the exchange level...not at the desktop level. I am familiar with setting up the IMAP service on Outlook, but have a client with about 40 users already using exchange, and was wondering if he could manage the IMAP connection through the exchange server..

thanks,
Gene

You have to use an "IMAP Connector" on the Exchange server. But the server always has to know the actual users passwords.

Another way is to use fetchmail on linux. same problem with passwords.
