I have a BCM 400 with 3.6 deployed to a customer with a PRI. The customer would like to have a true three digit dial to "911" on their system without dialing the access code. Right now, they dial a 9 to get an outside line, which would mean that they would have to dial 9911 to get out. They are also all i200x phones in three different locations (and three different phone companies) using VPN to link the sites together. I was going to add a 4 port analog gateway to POTS at each location to see if I could force "911" calls from site A to the IP gateway deployed at site A to route the call to the correct PSAP. Any idea how to acheive these results?

i dont know how you'd do 911 on IP Phones without having CO lines local to the address
this being PRI - you may give a different postal address to the OLI

build a destination code 911
this would entail building more detsination codes 910, 912, 913, 914 ...etc

Build routes and des codes,Then when access code is dial it goes. Right now PSAPS are connected to circuts,1 voice,1data
I will give to my eng,,,

Hey guys, did we ever get this answered?? I have a customer who will have multiple locations off the BCM and is concerned about the IP phones dialing 911 and having emergency services going to the wrong address.

It just seems they (whoever 'they' are) would have thought of something to fix this besides adding a POTS line to each IP phone location. Seems redundant...

We ended up setting a destination code of 911 which worked fine. We are following up with a letter to inform them that their outlying sites may be incorrectly identified if they call 911, but that they have access to 911.

the safest way is to have a POT line incase you have an emergency and your data circuit is down.

They also have POTS lines at all sites and we have told them to use these lines for emergencies to ensure proper routing. If they use the IP phones, they'll get to an emergency operator, just one in the wrong city. The letter is just one of those liability lawyer things.

We did the same thing this week replacing the '9' destination code with '9+' destinations using wildcards and different absorb lengths.

As far as the dialing 911 - build a route for destination code 911 and in the route have it add a 9. This will add the 9 when they dial 911.
We have the same thing here and we also built a 9911 route in case someone is aware of having to dial the 9 first.
This way no matter which way the customer dials it, they get to 911.
Make sure you also build a 91Any destination code too

As long as you are using PRI's you will can have OLI going to the PSAP. Make sure all OLI's are unique and then have the PSALI database properly updated for that particular OLI.
We have our own access to the PSALI database, but if you do not, you can contact your phone rep and talk to them about ensuring the proper information is in the PSALI database.
Otherwise, you can also have an individual pots line as the people here have said.
