The problem i have is that the customers r2 is dead and i could only replace it with a r3 i have regenerated all licences and added them to the new r3 but the backup is from the r2 and will not restore can the database be converted to r3? i dont want to have to retype the database.

Sorry, but you will have no choice but to retype it all back in again.
